Otmar Alt established his reputation with pictures and lithographies influenced by puzzles and comic strips. He invented colourful and grotesque figurations, combining them with geometrical forms, thus achieving a magical world of pictures.
Alt has been working for Rosenthal since 1978. He designed several objects in glass, porcelain or ceramics for the limited art edition, amongst others the lamp »Laternentier« (100 pieces), »Kleiner Tischhirsch« (99 pieces) and »Hermes« (500 pieces). He created the relief »Reise zu Philip Rosenthal« (49). for the series "Hommage a Philipp Rosenthal". In addition, he created several pieces for the Rosenthal studio-line as well as the pattern »Funny People« on »Flash«. He also designed the »Kunstdruck Nr. 2« for the "Paravant" for Rosenthal furniture line.
