Les Rêves Byzantins
The new Rosenthal meets Versace “Les Rêves Byzantins” collection, designed by Donatella Versace, echoes inspiration from the magnificent ancient era and the legendary world of Arabian Nights.
This new series is a rediscovery of historic and exotic influences from the Far East that have been expanded on after the successful launch of Versace/ Rosenthal's iconic 'Marco Polo' dinner set.Matching the opulent baroque motifs of the Maison with iconic symbols of Medieval art, the Arabian Crescent Moon alternates with golden graphic patterns and sparkling nettings with glamorous very Versace pink background.

These charming chaperons are made of finest, unglazed porcelain and come with an "Insurance Certificate" that contains a fitting quotation: "A droplet of love is more than an ocean of reason" or "Man is the best medicine man has".
A heavenly, highly personal gift idea for those for whom one wishes nothing but the best.

SANSSOUCI & Marie Antoinette
|
SANSSOUCI is the oldest Rosenthal design still in use. It was first launched in 1894. The history of the origin of this design is closely associated with Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam and with Frederic the Great. It is the perfect example of quality "Made by Rosenthal": fine, translucent porcelain, lavishly made designs/reliefs and a wealth of decorative designs, some hand-painted.
The opulent, new "Chatelaine" decorative design on the Rococo design SANSSOUCI brings the glamour and cheerfulness of the Rococo era to the laid table. This tendency towards enjoying life in magnificent style was picked up on in the cinema film "Marie-Antoinette".
Pleasure without regret. Be it accessories for the home or confectionary products, be it music or film - the revival of this pleasure-loving era competes with the cool taste currently en vogue.

Artists’ Gifts by Ekaterina Moré
All her figures present themselves as highly feminine, with flowing hair and big heart-shaped lips. The sensuousness and eroticism imbued in most of her pictures are enormously attractive. The artist describes her pictures as “Daring to be beautiful”.
“Feel Good” porcelain bowls
The decorative design of both porcelain dishes / bowls concerns itself with enjoyment in the widest sense of the word. Ekaterina Moré intended to create a moment of enjoyment, inner tranquillity and harmony with this motif. For the artist, two women in a close embrace, surrounded by sensuous vines, embody this moment. Just like the casually reclining woman with a joyous expression on her face, towards which the bunch of tulips inclines in order to pick up some of her vitality.
“Colourful Dance” vases
The “Colourful Dance” motifs are about the subject of dance. The women embody vitality and pure positive energy. The design, in various strong colours, is meant to create a harmonic melody that unfolds its full power through the women in motion.
“Floral Dream” glass giftsThe subject of flowers is at the heart of this design. Women virtually melt into the flower motifs, becoming one. The artist was inspired by stained glass windows. The colours of the bowls are special, they appear to be lit from within. The colours of these glass objects change, depending on the surface they are placed on.

TAC Dynamic
The classic from the Rosenthal studio-line, not least owing to its expressive form.
The new, graphical decorative lines emphasise the special shape of the service, lending elegant appeal.
These characteristic curves are stressed by the dynamic lines of the decorative design. The interplay between positive and negative allows the design to be exceedingly exciting. Colours conform to the black-white trend, without attempting to steal the limelight.

Rosenthal meets Versace »Primavera«
|
Versace fascinates. The unique compositions of this legendary brand make myths from antiquity, baroque sensuousness and modern elements fuse into one luxurious dream from another world. "Spring", with its liveliness and colourful flowers bursting from the ground just everywhere, seems to be simply perfect for a Versace interpretation. |
|
Primavera is timeless and highly fashionable at the same time. Only top quality materials and finish can make this world of luxury and dreams become reality.
This decorative design illustrates the dreamy ambience of an enchanting garden, skilfully interpreted by Rosenthal. It depicts a colourful cascade of flowers accompanied by unmistakable baroque ornaments. Pulsating orange hues encounter intensive blues, providing the perfect background for a flower festival of riotous colours.
Rosenthal meets Versace: LUXURY FOR THE SENSES. PURE LIFESTYLE |

Rosenthal meets Versace » Arabesque gold«
|
Dining in style is highly fashionable. With "Arabesque gold", "Rosenthal meets Versace" presents an unusual porcelain and glass lifestyle world for the festively laid table of modern ambience. The elegant, organic "Arabesque" design stands for a new opulence in which formal details, such as cone-shaped lids and outward-bent edges, speak their own inimitable language.
|
|
As in baroque frescos, the powerful arabesque element symbolises the expressive style of Versace. The special nature of this motif lies in the way the ornaments appear to move – seemingly intertwining in an endless cycle. Noble gold in four different shades – white gold, red gold and two yellow gold tones – create luxurious highlights on fresh white, sometimes appearing sparkling, sometimes matt.
This extensive range of articles, consisting of a complete dining service and coffee set, knows no bounds when it comes to imaginative tablescaping.
|
|
This diversity is augmented by an exquisite glass collection that picks up on the large-scale arabesque motif within the sand-blasted decorative design. Lucid and practical in shape, the Champagne, wine and water glasses provide a magnificent finish to any sumptuous festively laid table. Carafe and red wine decanter lend stylish charm to a fine vintage. And for the evening to end in comfortable harmony, whiskey and longdrink glasses as well as glass and bottle coasters, an ice bucket and dishes/bowls of various sizes are all included.
"Arabesque" makes every moment an unforgettable experience. |

Newly developed ceramic material from Rosenthal
| "Inovan" was developed at the Rosenthal Institut für Werkstofftechnik (Rosenthal Institute of Materials Science). "Inovan" is a new ceramic material that has excellent thermal shock resistance properties. This makes products made of "Inovan" ideally suitable as oven-to-table-ware. Food can be brought direct from oven to table. No more inconvenient and dangerous transferring of hot food into serving dishes etc.. This means food not only looks more appetising, it also stays hot longer. The heat storage capacity of this ceramic material makes sure of that. With the development of a range of casseroles and dishes made from this ovenproof material, the Thomas brand has once again extended its expertise "in the kitchen". |
|
 |
 |
|
These products were displayed at Ambiente 2004 in the "Genio" collection by Stefan Diez, and have been awarded national and international design prizes since that time. The "Inovan" material is also totally new in terms of aesthetics; with its unobtrusive, slightly glossy surface structure, "Inovan" clearly stands apart from all ceramic materials encountered to date. But, despite this slightly textured surface, no metal rubs from metal kitchen utensils and serving spoons etc.. All these advantageous properties have been made possible by an entirely new manufacturing process. | This necessitated the most careful execution of development work and the use of special raw materials. In terms of ecology, economy, technology and aesthetics, newly developed "Inovan" represents a novel breakthrough in the field of ceramic materials.

Thomas „The Trend Factory“
Brand Philosophy
The "Thomas – The Trend Factory" brand has been a byword for contemporary, youthful, uncomplicated design for 100 years. Thomas catches the spirit of the age, translating the latest trends in food, furnishing and fashion into innovative product concepts for tablescaping and domestic ambience. Thomas appeals to a young, ambitions customer group, always receptive to things new. With the slogan "The Trend Factory", Thomas underlines its claim to provide joie de vivre and progressivity along with its products and thus reflect its target group’s attitude to life.
Historical development
"Porzellanfabrik Thomas & Ens" was founded in 1904 by Fritz Thomas, in Marktredwitz, Upper Franconia. Only five years later, the porcelain factory, by then called "F. Thomas, Marktredwitz", was acquired by Rosenthal. In 1960, porcelain production ceased at the Marktredwitz Thomas factory for space reasons. The new factory, "Thomas am Kulm", in Speichersdorf, Upper Franconia, came on stream. Italian architect Marcello Morandini added geometrical patterns to the facade of this low building in 1984.
Today, the Thomas range is produced at the Thomas am Kulm site in Speichersdorf as well as at the Rosenthal am Rothbühl site in Selb.
Since the fifties, Thomas has been consistently developed as a brand for young, design-oriented and uncomplicated tableware. In 1965 the "ABC" glass and service collection was created by Hans Theo Baumann, winning several prizes. Scandinavian design, in particular, shaped the Thomas range up until the eighties. The "Scandic" design, by Hertha Bengtson, won the Faenza Gold Medal, for instance. At the end of the eighties, Thomas then pursued new design directions, particularly those emanating from London. The first "Cook Shops" replaced the elegantly laid table. At that time, the "Trend" service from design duo Queensberry/Hunt became one of the major sellers. Thomas was very quick to take up the "from oven to table" concept that is widespread today; all tableware being flame-retardant, heat-resistant, dishwasher-proof and microwave-proof. Since the nineties, Thomas has been all about new, functional, simple design. The 1997 "Vario" range, by Yellow Design, stood for innovative design and a modern, lifestyle-based marketing concept. Today, with ranges such as "Coup", developed by renowned Munich designer Konstantin Grcic, Thomas is highly regarded as an innovative design-conscious brand.
Another important Thomas designer is Stefan Diez, who has now worked with Rosenthal since 2003. His creations include the "Genio" saucepans range, the "tema" cutlery range and the exciting new "Inovan" range.
The Thomas brand now has more than 50 design prizes to its name.
Current Product Concepts from the Thomas „Trend Factory“
Over the past few years, the Thomas brand has made a name for itself with uncomplicated, innovatively designed and shapely porcelain ranges and accessories for everyday use. Thomas provides an impressive and extensive product portfolio made up of the most diverse array of ranges to suit every target group.
»Trend«
With its "Trend" collection, Thomas has been market leader for many a year. "Trend" is a modern, functional table and cooking range from design team David Queensberry and Martin Hunt, its finely fluted finish setting it unmistakably apart. Along with classic "Trend White", the range also includes decorative designs in the latest stylish colours. "Trend" also includes the right accessories to accommodate all the latest cooking notions, such as the plain dishes and plates in the "Trend Asia" range. And the successful "Trend" concept moved on even further in 2001 with the "Loft" range, which incorporates various different design elements such as the popular fluted finish.
"Amici" brings a touch of Italy to the table
With "Amici" range, the Thomas Trend Factory makes Italian cuisine, with all its Mediterranean flair, part of our everyday lives. Apart from the extremely successful original Thomas pasta plate and other beautiful plates, the "Amici" range also includes many accessories as attractive as they are useful.
"Vario"
„Vario“, for innovative design Thomas underlines its design expertise with the multiple award-winning "Vario" range. This simple, functional service by Yellow Design is more than mere porcelain. "Vario" is a unique combination of porcelain and wood, metal and polymer. This diverse range appeals by virtue of distinct form and by the way in which it can be mixed and matched to suit any particular wish.
A „Coup“ from the Thomas Trend Factory
"Coup" is a product of cooperation with Munich designer Konstantin Grcic. "Coup" is a modern-day modern life range, reduced to multifunctional basic elements, perfectly in tune with the way we live today. "Coup" stands out for its innovative, contemporary design – yet another example of how design is the focus of the Thomas brand concept. Another feature of "Coup" is the special shape of the plates. The thermos flask, with its mix of porcelain and steel, is the exclusive centrepiece of the range. "Coup" comes in white, with two decorative design versions – one of the absolute highlights from Thomas.
Tiger Duck, Tabaluga, Mouse and Felix for kids
"Thomas-Kids" is a major element of the Thomas range. Well known and well loved children’s characters such as little dragon Tabaluga, adventurous Felix the Hare, the mouse from the TV series of the same name, as well as Janosch characters, decorate the "Thomas-Kids" range. Everything that even the smallest of Thomas fans could desire on the tabletop is available: amusing breakfast sets including muesli bowls and mugs for little morning grouches, pasta and pizza plates for larger appetites plus practical sets for impromptu meals. Thomas also features delightful gift ideas for children, such as a Janosch birthday plate with candle ring as well as a Janosch desk set.

»Coffee - Cult« - designed by artists: Ottmar Alt, Andy Warhol, James Rizzi and Nicolas Bodde
|
Early summer is on the way. Looked forward to with longing after a cold, colourless winter. Everything blossoms. Even in the far North Mediterranean flair is to be found along the boulevards and in the gardens. To sit outdoors, beneath the blue sky, breathing in the sunshine. Accompanied with a café latte, a cappuccino or a good coffee. What a pleasure. A touch of savoir vivre, because design and art meet in perfection in the “Coffee – Cult” range. Such small breaks provide everyone with a moment of “la dolce vita” to escape the everyday.
The individual cups – espresso cups, coffee beakers and a latte-macchiato glass with porcelain coaster – optionally come in four successful Rosenthal service forms: “Moon” by Jasper Morrison, “Flash” by Dorothy Haffner, “Oro nero” by Paul Wunderlich and “Yono” by Platt & Young. Apart from these four forms, coffee enthusiasts can choose from four different decorative designs. New in 2005 is the fifth decorative design entitled “Horizons”, by internationally renowned artist Nicholas Bodde. Also new is the cappuccino cup in all cup shapes.
This cup concept is rounded off with suitable accessories: an espresso or macchiato spoon with decorated porcelain handle, a sugar shaker and a pot for sweetener make “Coffee Cult”, from Rosenthal studio-line, the perfectly complete concept. It just makes coffee fun! |

»suomi« - by Timo Sarpaneva

In the fast food and coffee-shop era, setting the table with procelain is an expression of nobleness. This same mentality gives such great importance to a well cooked meal, so that the service form and the food content combine to create a thoroughly pleasurable experience.
The art lies in the choice of ingredients; which are not just there for tasting, but also to look at and feel.
In contrast to the artificialness of our hectic times, the best ingredients are natural and fresh. Timo Sarpaneva was inspired by nature in his design of the service » Suomi « for Rosenthal studio-line.

»Celebrity Art« - The Aesthetics of Collecting
It's about time to re-invent the art of collecting: With the new series »Celebrity Art« the Rosenthal studio-line combines collector's enthusiasm, aesthetic sense and charity. Personalities from the Arts, entertainment, sport and poltics celebrate the 125th Rosenthal anniversary with an extraordinary collection of hand-signed plates. Andy Warhol, Ambrogio Pozzi, Donatella Versace or Henry Maske - each artist created his/her plate individually to be used as valuable as well as stylish wall decoration, extraordinary bowl or service plate.
A certain sum from the sale of each »Celebrity Art«-plate is donated to a charity project, choosen by the artist himself/herself. »Celebrity Art« is the re-invention of the art of giving and collecting under the Rosenthal studio-line - the most noble and stylish manner, to help other people.
